SkyBus set to resume Peninsula Express service

Travelling over the Christmas and summer period just got more convenient for locals and visitors to Melbourne’s south-east with the reintroduction of the popular SkyBus Peninsula Express service from Sunday 4 December.

Operating 7 days a week, the service will offer travellers regular, reliable and affordable travel between Melbourne Tullamarine Airport and 14 conveniently located stops including Elsternwick, Brighton, Moorabbin, Mentone, Mordialloc, Chelsea and Frankston.

A new stop has also been introduced on Barkly Street in St Kilda while the SkyBus St Kilda Express service remains suspended.

Michael Sewards, Co-CEO, SkyBus said the company was delighted to return the Peninsula Express service.

“As people plan their travel over the busy summer period we are delighted to welcome them back on board this fantastic and much-loved service. We are celebrating this milestone at SkyBus because it symbolises our continued recovery following the pandemic.

“We had to make some tough but necessary decisions at the onset of covid to suspend some of our express services and this impacted the lives of many of our team, who are very much part of the SkyBus family and who helped us build SkyBus to what people know and love today.

“We thank our loyal customers in Melbourne’s south-east for their patience and support over the last two years and are thrilled to once again offer them a service which makes travel to and from Melbourne Airport cheaper, easier and hassle free,” Mr Sewards said.

The Peninsula Express operates with an average frequency of every 90 minutes including thirteen return services weekdays between 4:15am and 11:30pm and 9 return services on weekends between 5am and 7:30pm.

Passengers on the service can experience a range of premium features including free Wi-Fi, electronic ticketing and no excess baggage charges.

Tickets for the service can be purchased via the SkyBus App, via the SkyBus website, via the e-Kiosks located at Melbourne Airport or on board using card payment.

The Peninsula Express service operated between Tullamarine Airport and Bayside and the Mornington Peninsula before the service was suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19.
