Melbourne sees pink as SkyBus supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Melbourne, Australia – This week thousands of Melburnians will see pink as SkyBus, operators of Melbourne’s express CBD to airport transport service, has launched its Pink Lady SkyBus Double Decker in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).

SkyBus is a proud supporter of BCNA, a national organisation that works to ensure that Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care appropriate to their individual needs.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), SkyBus has transformed one of its iconic red vehicles into a moving Pink Lady, the known and loved symbol of BCNA.

Breast cancer survivor and BCNA member Alyx Stewart was thrilled when she was one of the first to see the Pink Lady SkyBus. “I was amazed when I saw it, it is huge, it is in your face and it is a wonderful billboard for BCNA. As a breast cancer survivor I am so humbled by the generosity and commitment from the SkyBus team,” Alyx said.

“After you have been diagnosed and you see the Pink Lady, you feel an overwhelming sense of support. BCNA was there for me after my breast cancer diagnosis, they made sure I had all the information and support I needed. I was never alone, because of the Pink Lady. I know when those diagnosed and their families see the SkyBus, they too will feel love and support from the community,” she added.

SkyBus customers can support BCNA this month by donating at its ticket booths at Melbourne Airport or Southern Cross Station’s Airport Gateway, or online by visiting skybus.com.au.

Michael Sewards, Co-CEO and Director of SkyBus, said, “SkyBus is a proud supporter of Breast Cancer Network Australia, a special charity that helps thousands of women, men and children across Australia.”

“I know from personal experience that BCNA provides extraordinary support to families affected by breast cancer every day of the year. October is their special month – so we urge our customers to get behind BCNA and give what you can at our ticket booths or online,” Mr Sewards added.

SkyBus has set itself a target of raising $50,000 for BCNA during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“Our special Pink Lady SkyBus has certainly been turning heads in Melbourne this week! Our hope is that when people see the bright pink SkyBus driving past, it will remind them of the everyday struggles against cancer that thousands of Australians are experiencing, and it will remind them to donate to the important cause,” Mr Sewards said.
