After huge success last year the Queen Victoria Winter Night Market returns on Wednesday evenings this winter.
Specialty fashion, jewellery and designer stalls will be scattered under the iconic sheds, lanterns illuminating the beams and rafters. Wind your way through performers and artists, soaking in the warmth from cracking fires and open grills. It’s a welcoming and warm environment, filled with delicious smells and inviting sounds.
The event features over 30 street vendors including some of Melbourne’s hottest restaurant names. There’s award-winning wood-fired pizzas from Naples pizza specialist 400 Gradi (based in Crown and Brunswick), Mjr Tom out of Collingwood serving their Asian/Latin infusions and down-the-road neighbour The Brass Coq dishing up their famous VFC (Vietnamese Fried Chicken). Those Girls Beverage Co are supplying the drinks to keep you toasty; specialising in non-alcoholic apple cider that, rumour has it, tastes like liquid apple pie, warm up from the inside out. Mulled wine and beers on tap are also available.
It’s not all about food at the market however; Wednesday June 8th sees a special collaboration with the Melbourne Jazz Festival, showcasing a performance by Afro-Cuban Latin jazz group Los Cabrones. In July there’s the free Market Cinema screening local films, and on August 3rd, a partnership with Multicultural Arts Victoria showcases a traditional Maori exhibition and Polynesian dancing.
With loads of public transport options it’s an accessible and easy night out, catering to all ages. Explore the city this winter at the Queen Victoria Winter Night Market.
