Lido On The Roof showcases both commercial and new release art house films on its spectacular rooftop, screening films after sundown. A very relaxed and social vibe, with deckchairs and beanbags, Lido allows its guests to enjoy time up on the roof before the film, watching the sunset and having a drink.

Moonlight Cinema

Set atop a grassy slope and surrounded by lush gardens, the Moonlight Cinema truly transports you to another world, especially as the crowd hushes for the start of the movie. It shows current Hollywood films with the occasional old-school flick thrown in. Being able to BYO picnic rugs, comfy chairs and food is a added bonus, however there are plenty of bars and food trucks on offer.

Adjoining Rooftop Bar on Swanston Street is Rooftop Cinema. Again, it is quite something to be outdoors and surrounded by people watching silently as the movie begins, let alone on top of a building in the middle of the city. The Burger Shack and licensed Rooftop will keep you well fed and watered, dishing out burgers, fries, cocktails, choc-tops and popcorn – the perfect combination!

For just $13, head down the road and see 80’s classics or an independent film at QV Cinema. On level 2, in the heart of QV Square, deckchairs are set up on astro turf creating an small but intimate cinema. With the likes of Grill’d, Spice Kitchen QV and Max Brenner Chocolate Bar right nearby, you’ve got dinner and dessert covered as well.
