What would your ideal Friday night include? Art? Live music? Drinks and nibbles? All of the above perhaps? Then look no further than Friday Nights at the NGV.

Brave the cold outdoors and make your way to the NGV International just south of the Yarra for an engaging and stimulating night with this year’s spectacular winter masterpiece Van Gogh and the Seasons. This is the largest collection of Van Gogh artworks to ever travel to Australia, inspired by and presented in the four seasons. The Dutch Post-Impressionist painter is widely regarded as one of the Netherlands’ most famous and influential artists and most-notably cut off his own ear. This exhibition gives an insight into the life and times of the artist and his connection to nature.

It’s a simple concept; take your time wandering through the exhibition in a special after hours opening and join in the conversation afterwards over a drink and a bite to eat. Special live performances from Australian and international acts such as celebrated singer Emma Russack, The Fauves, Steve Gunn (US), ending with a special Saturday finale with pop-rock five-piece The Panics.

The rest of the gallery is also open during these hours, so you’re free to explore for as long as you wish with your NGV Friday Nights ticket. Tickets start around $30 online and $35 at the door. With limited numbers available at the door, it’s best to book online.

So catch up on some culture with a twist this Friday night and enjoy fine art and good conversation at NGV International, running for another 6 weeks.
