Footy Fever: Warm Up With These Great AFL Grand Final Events In Melbourne
As the AFL Grand Final fast approaches, and the best two teams prepare to battle it out at Melbourne’s iconic MCG, Melbourne comes alive with footy fever.
Here's your guide to getting in the footy spirit for the entire week in the lead up to the Grand Final.
Monday 28th September
Football’s night of nights! You may not be going to the Brownlow, but you can definitely check out all the red carpet action live from Crown at 5pm.
Tuesday 29th September and Wednesday 30th September
Located in Yarra Park, the Foxtel Footy Festival showcases the best Melbourne has to offer in food, music, movies, and of course, footy.
Thursday 1st October
Kids and their families are invited to join the ultimate Grand Final week footy warm up at the Cartoon Network Zone at the Foxtel Footy Festival in Yarra Park.
Friday 2nd October
The Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade provides a chance for supporters to see their favourite players who will take to the field in the Grand Final.
Marching bands, roving entertainment and many others will join the cavalcade of Toyota HiLuxs carrying the two Grand Finalist teams to Yarra Park.
For the first time, Friday is a public holiday and the Grand Final parade has a new route (see map below). The cavalcade starts near the Old Treasury Building, heading south down Spring Street, taking a left turn down Wellington Parade before taking right turn into a brand new live site at Yarra Park (MCG).
Saturday 3rd October
If you don’t have a coveted ticket to the big game, never fear. There’s an array of venues in Melbourne showing the game on their big screens. Zomato has compiled this handy guide to the best in town.
