1. Te Henga Walkway

This is one of the most popular walks to experience Auckland’s wild west coast. The cliff top walk from Bethells Beach (Te Henga) to south of Muriwai Beach is a great option if you’re looking for some solitude and fresh ocean air.

The Mercer Bay Loop Track in West Auckland is a beautiful coastal walk, featuring a wild forest setting, making it a perfect option for a family adventure. Enjoy the uninterrupted ocean views and discover the unique New Zealand native flora and fauna.

3. Hunua Cossey Dam Path

The Hunua Ranges Regional Park is the largest area of native forest in Auckland. Hike along the track and admire the great views, waterfalls and giant kauri trees. Don’t forget to pack a picnic to enjoy by the picturesque Hunau Falls!

4. Rangitoto Island Summit Track

As an Auckland icon, Rangitoto Island is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway. Take a short ferry ride from downtown Auckland and climb to the summit, where you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of New Zealand's largest city and surrounding Hauraki Gulf islands.

5. Long Bay Coastal Walk

Just 20 kilometres from Auckland's city centre, this long sandy beach is one of the most popular spots for weekend recreation. The lovely easy walk passes along the sandstone cliff and leads through patches of native forest.
