The Spring Racing Carnival is a staple on Melbourne’s sporting and fashion calendar, making it a truly unique event that takes hold of the city. And as we gear up for the magnificent Melbourne Cup week, the Caulfield Cup will be kicking things off superbly this weekend at Caulfield Racecourse.
Attracting some of the worlds best horses and trainers, the flagship race itself is worth $3.1 million over a 2400m track. Being the richest turf handicap over this distance in the world, it’s one of the most important races in the Spring Racing Carnival, and gets Melbourne warmed up for what’s to come on the first Tuesday of November.
Whilst the actual flagship race itself is the official main attraction, the fashion, food and drink takes centre stage. The David Jones Fashion Stable is your chance to view all the hits and misses on the runway trackside at Caulfield. You can also see live performances and sip champagne as you take it all in.
The Carlton Draught Front Bar is the main bar and entertainment area with spectacular views of the track. Featuring delicious offerings from Melbourne stalwarts such as Biggie Smalls, Red Door, Che and St Kilda Burger Bar, and of course ice cold Carlton Draught, you will be fed and watered comfortably all day. And of course Australian indie rockers The Temper Trap will be performing live in the afternoon.
The only thing you need to organise is your outfit! And your tickets of course. Get them here from $55.
