SkyBus to launch Byron Bay airport transfer service

The Byron Bay Express will transfer passengers in the signature SkyBus luxury red coaches from 16 September 2018.

Byron Bay, AustraliaSkyBus, operator of Australasia’s premier airport transfer service, today announced the commencement of a brand new service connecting Byron Bay to Gold Coast Airport, called the Byron Bay Express.

The Byron Bay Express will transfer passengers in the signature SkyBus luxury red coaches from 16 September 2018 and the SkyBus stop will be centrally located on Jonson Street near the Byron Tourist Information Centre.

“Byron Bay has been on the lips of many of our Gold Coast customers, and it was clear there was demand for a quality, fast and reliable airport transfer service that catered just for Byron Bay,” said SkyBus Director Adam Begg.

“We suspected that the demand for SkyBus was there, and our subsequent research of Gold Coast Airport visitors backed that up hard.”

Adam continued, “With major events like Bluesfest and the Falls Music and Arts Festival bringing over 100,000 people to town each time they’re held, Byron Bay has desperately needed a comfortable, reliable and cost-effective service that can scale up and handle big volumes of people. SkyBus has both the expertise and the infrastructure to do this, and do it well.”

“Byron Bay is an immensely popular destination and it’s both under-serviced and disconnected from most of the Gold Coast transport options. A world-class service has been needed for a long time and SkyBus is thrilled to be the one to deliver it”, Adam said.

SkyBus has established a consistent transport model throughout Australia and New Zealand that has a focus on surge-free fixed fares, reliability, central bus stops, new and high quality buses plus free WiFi on board.

The trust and reliability that SkyBus has established on its services is critical for airport passengers travelling to fixed timetables.

The Byron Bay Express will be $28 for an adult one-way ticket when purchased online. The service offers senior discounts and family tickets that allow kids to travel free. Passengers who buy online or buy return tickets receive discounted prices.

Tickets will be available for pre-sales on 31 August 2018, with the buses officially rolling out the depot to start the service on 16 September 2018, in time for the school holiday season.

The Byron Bay Express will operate 19 times a day, seven days a week and will commence with a fleet of four luxury coaches. Additional coaches will be added to the service during peak times to ensure demand is met.

The service will use the same convenient and easy style of booking service that our customers on the Gold Coast service uses. Bookings can be made at the time of ticket purchase online or via phone.
