SkyBus drives efforts to bring Australians home

We couldn’t be prouder of our frontline teams who are working tirelessly to help passengers return home to their families

Australia’s leading airport transfer business, SkyBus, is helping the Victorian Government in its efforts to transfer the many international arrivals at Melbourne Airport to city hotels for quarantine.

New national quarantine laws for international travellers arriving into the country came into effect on Sunday, with anyone arriving now forced to stay in a state-funded hotel room for 14 days.

At a press conference on Saturday morning, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said SkyBus had provided 85 buses to get an estimated 1000-1500 people from the airport to the accommodation.

“We have enough rooms. We have a very strong partnership between hotel booking providers, as well as transport connections, police, the Department of Health and, over time, the ADF may provide us with support,” the Premier said.

SkyBus Co-CEOs Adam Begg said it was an incredible 24-hour response from the entire SkyBus team to gear up for the task.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our frontline teams who are working tirelessly to help passengers return home to their families,” he said.

“This was a quick turnaround from our team which included buses from our New South Wales business, Telfords, making the trip down to help out."

"We are equally appreciative of the great assistance the Victorian Government has provided us during this crisis."

“After what has been a turbulent fortnight for Australia’s aviation industry, we remain agile and flexible ready to support our major stakeholders wherever we can.”
